Experience and Background
With Greenville roots 100 years deep, Tom Marchant has dedicated himself to helping other families grow here, too. He does this professionally – Tom is one of the Upstate’s most trusted REALTORS® – and via dedicated voluntarism focused on faith, education, and youth and family development.
Tom brings an eclectic mix of experience to his role as a consistent top agent and VP of Marketing at Marchant Real Estate. A 1992 graduate of Clemson University, he spent eight years as a top sales producer within the luxury hotel industry before moving into radio sales/strategy. His tenure with The Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts provide him significant insight into high-end client service and expectations, while time with Cox Media Group developed his creative use of marketing strategy. What’s more, Tom has lived in cities of varied sizes — spending many of his formative years in Tampa, then working in Atlanta for nearly a decade before returning to his hometown – so he combines a cosmopolitan perspective with an appreciation of all things local.
Thus, Tom has become Greenville’s go-to REALTOR® for fine homes and properties. He is a professional who understands the psychology of top-tier properties and utilizes inventive know-how to market them. He connects comfortably with clients, whether long-time locals or prospective transplants. Tom also has a passion for new development, having successfully marketed these high-visibility projects: Park Place on Hudson, Augusta Walk, Woodland Park at Cleveland Forest.
Whether an historic North Main or Augusta Road home or a chic West End condo, a glorious Caesars Head get-away or a rustic mountain cabin, Tom has an exceptional market familiarity – that of a true resident – which proves beneficial to buyers and sellers alike. As a neighbor, he strives for sincerity in every transaction, focusing on clients’ long-term satisfaction rather than quick, easy sales.
A consistent top agent, working with buyers and sellers, Tom is keen on tech-savvy marketing to position high-end homes in front of their potential new owners. To this end, he utilizes skilled stagers, professional photographers, creative writers and targeted print publications to best showcase each property, with promotions accented, perhaps, by aerial photos, streaming videos, social media and more.
Tom is a city-dweller – he and his wife, Gidge, live in Downtown Greenville, while overseeing the construction of a new home for themselves at Augusta Walk. So he is at home, literally as well as figuratively, in both the bustle of Downtown Greenville and the beauty of the Carolina mountains, and these places have become his professional niche.
Away from the office, Tom is an active member of First Presbyterian Church where he serves as an Elder, participates in Search Men’s Ministries, and has been actively involved in youth development and mentoring. He and Gidge were highly active in their kids’ schools and extracurricular activities, and are now enjoying the fruits of an empty nest.
